University of Denver

The University of Denver, originating in 1864, as the Colorado Seminary, was started by a man named John Evans. Falling on hard economic times after the Civil War, the Seminary closed its doors. Perseverance paid off and the school was re-opened in 1880. Renamed the University of Denver, under Chancellor David Hastings Moore, the University saw its first graduate in 1884.
Building began on the present day location in 1890. Known as the Denver Pioneers, the school gallantly exhibits the brilliant colors of crimson and gold. It has been indicated that whether they were one of the first graduates or a amid the present day alumnus, the common bond that threads them together is built on the school’s heritage of highly supporting academic life. Among the many former graduates from this high ranking University that has earned local, national and global attention, is US. Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice.
