Featured University: WICHITA STATE UNIVERSITY
1845 Fairmount Street
Wichita, Kansas 67260

Main Phone: 316-978-3456
web: www.wichita.edu

Founded in 1886 by the Rev. Joseph Homer Parker, named Fairmount College (1895-1926) was affiliated with the Congregational Church. When class finally began in 1895, the Fairmount student body consisted of local residents who could not afford to go elsewhere or whose parents wanted their children to experience the values of a Christian College. One of the College's early slogans -- found on letterhead, rulers and a stamp -- was "Fairmount Builds Character." The phrase has been long forgotten, but one might venture to say that it still applies to the University today

In addition to our 330-acre main campus, we have a number of satellite locations that take our classes and educators into the community.

WSU South Campus
Located in Derby, Kan., the 10,000-square-foot South Campus is home to Wichita State's Accelerated Nursing Program and features a new high-definition interactive distance learning facility.

WSU West Campus
Wichita State University's 24,000-square-foot West Campus, located at 3801 Walker Ave. in west Wichita features 13 classrooms that range in capacity of 35-70 students, a computer lab, general science lab, interactive distance learning classroom, lounge and administrative support space.

WSU Downtown Center
The Downtown Center, at 358 N. Main, houses Wichita State's Center for Community Support & Research and the Department of Physical Therapy.

Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex
Acquired in 1997, the 73,313-square-foot Hughes Metropolitan Complex features the 1,750-seat Roger Lowe Auditorium, the 145-seat Frederick Sudermann Commons and the Richard Welsbacher Experimental Theater. The complex also has a gymnasium, an 80-seat meeting room and several classrooms. The facility houses the Division of Continuing Education, which offers noncredit courses to the community.
